This interesting R D Burman composition (recently featured in the second edition of the OOOPS quiz) was made famous in Meree Sangeet Yaatra: Episode 11, Part 1, as another interesting experiment from R D Burman: turning a boat song into a cabaret song.

In an interview, Mumtaz claimed that the picturisation of the famous Madhuri number 'ham ko aaj kal hai' in SAILAAB owed a lot to this song.

The film made the record books as the only one that had Mumtaz starring opposite the Big B.
